A sketch, a few crops, and a whole lot more!

OK, where do i start?  I haven't been doing a lot of scrapping lately becuase we have had family and friends visiting and I have been teaching at my LSS.  BUT, I have gotten a few thing done.

First up is the April Sketch Challenge at Ch{all}enge Masters.  This month, I have another team member, Marianne, working with me as well.  Here is the sketch that I created and my example:

For this LO above, I took the LYB die cut paper and put some green paper behing it.  Then I took some embroidery thread and did a french knot in each circle.  Yes, it took forever.  The chipboard swirls and the bunny are covered with white flock and glitter.  The flowers I used some double sided shaped tape and added yellow flock to the centers.

If you like the sketch, then come play along at Ch{all}enge Masters!  As usual, there are lots of other fun challenges, too, and a great prize!

I am Guest Designing for ScrapDango this month, and every month on their blog they have a sketch challenge.  This was my sample for the sketch challenge using their April "Spice" kit featuring BoBunny Mamma Razzi.

Last week while my FIL was here we went out on a little roadtrip to go catch some of the beautiful wildflowers.  We came across this pasture with tons of flowers, and of course some longhorns!  There were lots of people stopped to take photos....it ws such a pretty setting!  Anyways, this LO is about what I thought Texas was like before I moved here, and what it is to me now.

I used some new Marshmallow colored Glimmer Mist on this.  I wish it covered a bit more white, but it does give a pretty sheen.

Finishing up right now is also the "New Beginnings" crop at Scrapdango.  One of my challenges was based on a packet of seeds and was to use a certain color combo of orange, white, salmon, and rose; strips of paper, flowers, and something "liquid" on your page.  This was my example. You can still head over there to enter because the deadline isn't until the 25th.
I used an old Cocoa Daisy kit from last May for this...trying to use up my stash!

Lastly, this LO is killing a few birds with one stone!  I saw Sketchy Thursday's sketch last week and loved it, and also loved that they were combining their challenge with the "Who's That Girl" blog.  I didn't get it done in time to post it to Sketchy Thursdays, but I did get it done.  When I read the challenge initially, I was sitting at the computer at the LSS where I worked and had just finished my first class.  The theme was "Right Now", and I took it literally.  I took 4 photos from where I was sitting and journaled a few thoughts and things I had just done.  I loved this process.  I want to do more LO's like this....just random times, and just stop and say, "It's Time...Right Now"  and take some photos and scrap them.  I think it would make a cool album....I might do it once a month.

I also used this LO as my challenge this week at Scrapdango...to scrap an everyday photo that YOU are in.  It is hard for a lot of us to do because we are the ones that are behind the camera most of the time!

Don't you just love these Lily Bee papers??????

Well I am working on a TON of project for next week.  There will be a kit reveal for Scrapbook Kit Club, and a few crops going on this weekend and next, so I have a lot to do! Until then.....

Scrapdango Kit Reveal! Mamma-Razzi!

YAY YAY YAY!  I am so excited about this reveal I can't hold it in anymore!  I am the Guest Designer for Scrapdango this month!

Here's the thing: I had a choice between the kits, and I already have some of the Crate Paper Brook stuff for another reveal (which I still love by the way), so i decided to go with the BoBunny Mamma-Razzi line.  At first, I thought the papers were really masculine, and I wasn't sure how well I would be able to tackle them. Because i didn't have any particular pictures in mind, I did a little photo shoot of myself last week.

When I got the papers, I loved loved loved the rust colored one, and when I started to look at the patterns, etc., it started to come to me and the designs just popped into my head!  I love the way all three of these came out, so I am glad I challenged myself to use some papers that I normally wouldn't choose!

This first one I really wanted to use the theme of the paper, and I started thinking about how crazy I get with taking pictures.  I used some Basic Grey stamps to stamp the black scroll flourishes on the aqua cardstock and then cut them out by hand...this took forever!!!!!!!

The photo size I chose fit perfect behind teh transparency, and I stamped the title with black Stazon on another transparency and then glued it on.  If you can read my journaling it is kinda funny...:)

This next one just had a strange origin.  As I was looking through some of the photos that I took of myself during my photoshoot, I noticed how much my skin is aging.  The sunspots on my face and arms have intensified greatly since we lived in Houston, and during pregnancy my pigmentation really changed.  In these photos I had no make up on or anything...it felt really raw to me, so I wanted to write about it a bit.  If I told you that I used orange and green on a LO and it wasn't a fall one, you probably would say "gross", but I love the way these worked together.
Again I used the Basic Grey stamps and some other, older flourish stamps (can't remember the manu).  I stamped with Versamark and used AC white ambossing powder, which I LOVE.  I then misted over it a bit and wiped the mist off the white ink (resist embossing). I inked and distressed the heck out of the edges and
stitched around the photo and some other areas.  The journaling area is also resist embossing and I used some crackle accents on the letters.

Finally, this one is my FAV!  Probably b/c I love this photo of Charlotte taken on Easter Sunday at my brother's house in Baton Rouge.  I used my favorite piece of paper (the rust colored one) which matched the background of the photo really well!  To make this a lot more feminine, I made a ton of rolled paper roses and added some stickles to the edges to give them some sparkle.  I cut the leaves out of the greenish paper and sewed a line down the middle and folded them for dimension.  The brown die cut area is traced from another piece of PP and I sanded the edges and stitched around the inside edge with a zig zag stitch.  The title is stamped with white ink. The ticket I turned to the back, crumpled and inked them, then did an outline with a thin black pen.

Well I am so please with this kit, and there is more to come!!  There is a crop going on RIGHT NOW at Scrapdango, plus I will be posting my challenge next Thursday, so PLEASE stop by!

Sketchy Thursdays April 8

Here is my take on the 4/8 sketch!

This is also my sample for the April 15 challenge at Candy Shoppe Designs! (That is why I had to wait to post this!  :)  )
This is the last challenge for the current DT there....hence the "tear drop" or rain drop theme!  The good news is that there is a DT call going on right now!!  Check it out HERE.

Well at first I was thinking about doing something with rain....but then it didn't rain for a while here, so I had no pics. I was browsing through some Etsy store for rain drop things, and after an hour I said to myself, "i should probably shower today". Then it hit me.

Since I stay home all day everyday, and I am busy chasing a super fast crawler around the house and doing house work left and right, somedays I just forget to take a shower. That's what this is all about! :)

Oh, and no kidding....i spent about 20 mins in a COLD shower (the hot water would steam the lens) trying to get the photo that I wanted!

The color pallette is from The Color Room and PSE actions by Pioneer Woman.

New Beginnings Crop!

I am super excited to announce that I am a Guest Designer this month over at Scrapdango!!  I won the spot during the Crowned contest in February.

This week we are having a cro p!!! Heather is very generous with prizes and the ladies have a LOT of talent, so please stop by!  Here are the details:

Each month Scrapdango offers two kits: Sugar and Spice.  April's Sugar kit contains papers from Crate Paper Brook, and the Spice kit contains BoBunny Mamma-Razzi.  I chose to work with the Spice kit and the Mamma-Razzi papers.  The reveal will be on Thursday, but here are a few sneaks:

YAY!  OK, so see you back here on Thursday for the reveal!

TODAY!

Well, it isn't actually today...it was last Thursday.  But that is what this LO is all about!

There was a challenge posted at Cocoa Daisy to take your camera with you for the whole day and take a photos every hour of whatever you were doing.  I had been meaning to do this and meaning to do this, and finally Thursday when i woke up I just got my camera and started taking pics!  it was really fun, and some I even just set the timer on so that I could be in a few pics! I think I might start doing this once a month.

It took me forever to do this LO, though, because I was trying to make it so that we could replicate it at my Tips, Tricks, & Techniques class at my LSS for my May class.  Just on this page alone I have the following techniques:
inking
distressing
sanding
sewing
punching
hand cutting
doodling
painting
crackling (is that the right word?)

Anyways, I am really happy with how it finally came out. TFL!

Welcome Lonestar Scrapbook Company Fans!

I was so excited to see my bio in the Lonestar Scrapbook Company email blast this morning!!  I can't wait to start my first class: Tips, Tricks & Techniques, which will be April 15.  I have posted two of the LO's that we will be making in previous posts, but here is the third one:

And again, here are the other two layouts we will be doing, too:

I also had some really exciting news this past weekend!  I had TWO layouts make the top 3 at 2 Peas within 3 days!!!  The first one was the "Sew Sweet" below with the Cosmo Cricket Material Girl papers, and the other was this one that I whipped up on Friday and psoted Saturday.  I used the American Crafts Dear Lizzy papers.  I love the way this came out.  I painted with some white paint and a touch of blue on the kraft background and then spritzed a bit with some yellow glimmer mist (which is hard to see in this photo).

So again, Welcome LSSCO followers and please leave a comment so that I can get to know you, too!!!

April 1 reveals!

Can you believe that it is APRIL already???

I am been anxiously awaiting the first of this month to post my LO's with the new Scrapbook Kit Club Kit for April!!!  It features Dear Lizzy and Cosmo Cricket Material Girl!  There are also some wonderful embellies including some crocheted flowers, Maya Road envelopes, and Maya Road chipboard people.

Here are some of the LO's that I did with the kit:

I have a little technique tip that I am going to share about this next one on the SBKC blog this week:

This LO is one of my favs.  But WARNING:  my feet are in a serious need of a pedicure.
I painted the packground blue and painted the top of the envelope pink.  I also used some of the Dear Lizzy fabric paper to make the twisted flower on the right.  I really liked using the envelope as my photo mat. ly
The lovely blue fabric flower on this LO is included in teh SBKC kit.  It comes from a wonderful little store called Precocious Paper by the very talented Tessa Buys.

This last one I spent a LOT of time fussy cutting the leaves out of the paper!  I love the way these flowers came out to.  And this photo is one of my most favs of Charlotte!

I am still playing around with this kit.  I have two other things in the works, so I will post those soon!

And now the April 1st challenge for Candy Shoppe Designs!
Since it is April Fool's day, your challenge is to scrap one of those photos that are not the most flattering!  This is one I snapped of my brother, which as soon as I saw it I knew it was going to make it onto a page, much to his dismay!

I got a lot of things from my stash and used them here, like some old LYB tags and stickers.

I can't wait to post this LO on Facebook for all my brother's friends to see!  :)

TFL!  hopefully I will post when we get back from our Easter holiday next week!  OOOO and I have some exciting news to share about this month, too!
