My Little Pot of Gold

Over at Treasured Scrapbooking there is a contest going on right now called "Treasured Hunt".  Each week there is a challenge, and at the end of each week, only a few move on to the next round.  So the first challenge was to use:

Patterned Paper from THREE different manufacturers
Only ONE sheet of cardstock
Two pictures
5 buttons, and only 5 buttons
Your title must contain at least five words
Something handmade

OK, so it is so sad that I can go through my scraps and name every manu of each paper. BUT the good news is: I actualyl USED scraps! There are 11 different papers on here, but from only 3 manus:

in the rainbow:

red, orange: Jillibean Soup
Yellow, green, blue, purple: Cosmo Cricket (Delovely, Early Bird, Delovely, and some old Fleuriste for the purple!)
The background paper is Basic Grey
The title block is Cosmo Cricket (Snorkel) and Jillibean Soup.
The coins have the "lemons" from the Jillibean Soup line, too!
The butterfly papers are both Jillibean Soup.

So my 3 manus were Cosmo Cricket, Jillibean Soup, and Basic Grey

My cardstock was the yellow CS I used for some of the coins.

The handmade item is of course the rainbow, but the clouds, too, which I cut freehand from glittered felt and then stitched around the outside with embroidery thread.

Hope I make it to the next round!  This is fun!

Crop Addict September Reveal!!!

Can you believe it is September already???????  I can't!

Since I've been back home for the past 10 days I have been SO busy working with all the kits that were waiting for me!!!  One of them was this beautiful Crop Addict September kit featuring Bo Bunny Mamm Razzi and some Dream Street papers as well!

So here is what I came up with!

Included in the kit are these little chipboard "playing" cards.  The ones I got were for a girl and had a bit of pink in them, but since there wasn't pink in the papers, I had to improvise.  I used some pink ink on some of the stickers in the kit.

For the little frames, I cut a piece of paper to fit inside and filled it with Glossy Accents.

For the title, I sanded the letters and inked them a bit with pink, too.  Then I outlined them with black pen and added some Stickles!  I also did some doodle cirlces around the photo for a frame and filled them with Stickles, too.  I imagined these little circles as being bursts of light around my "glamour" girl!  :)

Next I worked with these Dream Street papers and the chipboard accents.  I wanted to use all the little blue flowers that come in the kit, too!

I cut out the flowers in the green paper and put some of the other patterns in the negative space.  Then I used the green ones as embellies.

The red and blues in this kit were perfect for the page I have been meaning to do about July 4th!  I was inspired by Tessa Buys to use some fabric around chipboard pieces (which I cut myself with my cricut) and then sewed fabric around each piece.

I also lightly misted the CS and used some star shapes in the background for masking.

So we went to the Eagles concert and if you know the cover of the Hotel California album, you will know where the inspiration for this page design came from!     The shape of the concert stage also led me to using the large circle on my page, too.

Also, I know it was technically Joe Walsh who sings "Life's Been Good", but they still sang it at the concert, so I had to use it as my title!

I had some photos that I wanted to use on a 2 page spread, but I only had two pieces of CS left, and they were two different colors!  What's a girl to do?  SOOOOO I cut eac into half, and used one color on the top of both pages and the other color on the bottom.  On the back of my page I taped them together to make them 12x12 and I also reinforced with a strip of patterned paper on the front!

I actually usedmy Cricut (*gasp*) for a change and cut out these palm trees using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.

Well I have absolutely nothing left of this kit!  It was fun and I love the diversity of these pages!

The next kit I am working with is for a Guest Design spot at Citrus Tree Studios.

So Sophie=So Charlotte....

I had the owner of Lonestar (the LSS where I work) order the So Sophie line by MME and I just LOVE these papers.  The texture is amazing and they are so sturdy.  Not to mention I love the patterns!

This first page I popped the photos off the page, and then put some of the embellies on the photos.

Isn't Chloe so cute?  She is such a good dog.  I have been doing tons of pages about Charlotte, and haven't done one about Chloe in a long time...she just tore her ACL a few weeks ago, and it may require surgery.  We are trying to see if it will mend a bit on its own, first.

For the next page, we used pop dots to pop of shapes of the same pattern as the background page.  I have seen this technique a lot lately, and I love the effect.

I used a sketch from Stuck! sketches for this page.

This last one is one of my favs.  This paper is so cool...at first I was thinking about just cutting out the squares and using them as journaling blocks.  But then I thought the page itself would be great for photo.

I cut out the squares with an exacto knife, sized my photos for the squares I wanted, and added PP to the backs of the squares.

For a few of them, I popped the paper off the back of the page, to make it look even more recessed.

All the flowers and leaves and swirls and such I fussy cut from a piece of paper.

OK!  So NEXT UP is some sneaks from the Crop Addict Sept. kit!  I will post them sometime this weekend!  Hope you are enjoying the last week of August!!!!

10 Things I LOVE about Summer!

Rebekah at The Studio Challenge Blog kindly emailed me and asked me to do a project for their summer cybercrop!  I was so honored to be asked.  Just at the time she asked me, I was working with my Scrapbook Circle August Kit, so I decided to use it for my Project.

What I love about this project was that I didn't have any photos.  I just wanted it to be a little reminder of the things I love most about summer, so that when I am cooped up in the house in January and February, I can open up the album and dream of summer!

You can find complete instructions and TONS of other ideas at The Studio blog

If you share a creation on The Studio blog that was inspired by my album, you could win a prize from A Trip Down Memory Lane!!!

Beach Bum

I have seen a lot of this little bum in the sand and in the water this summer!

I used the August Crop Addict Kit.  I LOVE the summer themed bottle caps!  There are also some adorable little metal tags and pieces included, too.

I used a tutorial FOUND HERE to make the 3-D stars.

Scrapbook Circle August Kit and GIVEAWAY!

It is August 1 which means it is time for my FIRST reveal as a Scrapbook Circle Design Team Member! I have been such a fan of Scrapbook Circle for a LONG time, and have been so inspired by all the design team members there over the years. I hope that you find something here that inspires you!

But with a kit like THIS, who WOULDN’T be inspired???

These colors are just fantastic in this kit; Bright and cheerful and just the essence of summer.

Every morning, and after every nap, I sing “Oh Let the Sunshine In” to Charlotte as I open her blinds and shades. How perfect is it that there was a journaling card that had this phrase on it in the kit!!!

I happened to be at my mom’s house while I was doing this LO, so I was able to use her sewing machine for this page. It is very subtle, but I sewed some large sunrays on the background with some yellow thread.

I just love love love the bright yellow letters in this kit, too.

We decided to visit the Jefferson County Fair one day. There were some flags on some of the tents in my photos that inspired the little flags that I made on my LO. I used the cork tag from the kit to push my flag pin into.

One of the first days we were in NY, we had some friends visit us at my parents cottage with their two little boys.  Charlotte just loves Carson, and they played together in the water for a long time!

Charlotte loves the outdoors and is facinated lately with touching trees.  She didn't climb this one (yet!)...grandpa is holding her up in the background.

See all these little flower petals??  They are actually the surfboards from one of the sheets of paper in the kit!  YES, this took me forever!!

Be sure to pick up your August Scrapbook Circle Kit HERE.
