Do you wanna build a Snowman?

I couldn't help but try and use a line from "Frozen" at some point on my blog this winter.  So here it is.

When I asked the kids this, their answer was YES!  But guess who did all the work?  Momma.  They helped pack in the snow a bit and put some of the pieces on.  And Charlotte helped me find sticks for arms, and while we were doing so, noticed the Holly bush.  So we picked a piece (which somehow ended up in the snowman's armpit) and it also became our snowpersons' name: Holly!  :)

This is yet ANOTHER page for the Sketchathon going on at My Scraps & More!

I started by washing over the background with some gesso and a dry brush to tone down the pattern a bit.  Then I machine stitched a circle with white thread in the upper right corner to draw more attention to the photo up there.  A trick I used on a previous page that I will probably use again and again, is to use a white pen and draw in some lines along the white threads to make the circle stand out more.

I splattered some blue paint on the background, too. Then I just placed my photos, and built up the one in the top right a bit more with some papers and embellies.  For my title, I just decided to use the words right on the die cut...it was perfect!

Finally, I bit of layering with some labels, brads, chipboard, and pre-stitched pieces.  Working with a whole collection makes it so easy to put things together!

Would love to see you join in at the Sketchathon!  Check it out HERE:

There are so so many fabulous Christmas lines out this year, and every year I say to myself, "I don't NEED anymore Christmas".  And even though I did buy a few, I justified this Crate Paper "Bundled Up" collection as being more "winter" themed than Christmas (which it most definitely is).  I have a lot of snowy photos from last year and these were a few of my favorite of Charlotte using her new sled after Christmas.

I wanted to do something with triangles, and I was thinking about my photos and triangles, I began thinking about the slope of the hill while you are "dashing down", so I cut the triangles at right angles to mimic a slope. There are 3 different sizes and three different papers.

On the background, I began by heat embossing some snowflakes with clean powder and then going over the paper with a light blue water color wash, with a few splatters of paint here and there.  Then I arranged my traingles and stitched down the slope of each  with some shiny silver thread.

I layered some chipboard embellishments, some die cuts, and even some transparencies over the photos.

And the little sled chipboard piece was the perfect accent, as was this die cut for my title!  I added a few additional snowflakes here and there punched from white cardstock and a few sequins for sparkle, too!

Thanks for stopping by today on this blog hop!  Hop along the blogs below, leaving a comment on each, then back to the Paper Haus blog!
