There are so so many fabulous Christmas lines out this year, and every year I say to myself, "I don't NEED anymore Christmas".  And even though I did buy a few, I justified this Crate Paper "Bundled Up" collection as being more "winter" themed than Christmas (which it most definitely is).  I have a lot of snowy photos from last year and these were a few of my favorite of Charlotte using her new sled after Christmas.

I wanted to do something with triangles, and I was thinking about my photos and triangles, I began thinking about the slope of the hill while you are "dashing down", so I cut the triangles at right angles to mimic a slope. There are 3 different sizes and three different papers.

On the background, I began by heat embossing some snowflakes with clean powder and then going over the paper with a light blue water color wash, with a few splatters of paint here and there.  Then I arranged my traingles and stitched down the slope of each  with some shiny silver thread.

I layered some chipboard embellishments, some die cuts, and even some transparencies over the photos.

And the little sled chipboard piece was the perfect accent, as was this die cut for my title!  I added a few additional snowflakes here and there punched from white cardstock and a few sequins for sparkle, too!

I'm sharing some more details of a mini album I have featured in this issue. It's true.  I never finished my December Daily last year.  That's because I just finished it last month!!  Last Decemeber I focused on the journaling, which was important for me, and I did pretty good at.  Yes, there were a few days I missed, but considering what a crazy time of year it is PLUS we moved on Dec. 17 after living with my parents for 6 months, it was a LOT!  So I am happy to share my finished album with you today!

I posted how I created my jouraling pages last year.  You can read about it HERE.

The cover I covered with paper, splattered some gold mist, cut a circle from a transparency (with the reindeer on it), and layered some die cut snowflakes and other little embellishments.

For the inside pages, I used the Fancy Pants Brag Book pages that hold two 4x6 photos.  If I had portrait oriented photos, I simply added them to a piece of 5x7 patterened paper and embellished it.  I added these pages inbetween the photo sleeves and other jorunaling pages.  I just went along and embellished each page with some die cuts, stickers, washi tape, chipboard, and more!  So here are some of the pages:

Today I have a fun layout to share with you!  While walking through Target a few weeks ago, I saw this bed set and immediately thought SCRAPBOOK PAGE!  :)  I mean, chevrons, ombre, and white space???  Yes please!

So this is what I came up with!  I love the movement of the chevrons on this image, so I wanted to use them to help convey the movement in my photo of my daughter running and jumping off the dock.

I chose some blue papers from different collections (Crate Paper, Fancy Pants, Studio Calico) that went from dark to lighter to create the ombre effect.  I cut strips 1.25" long, and then cut chevrons from them of varying sizes  I just cut the first few chevron pieces from the dark navy free hand, but them used them to cut the right shapes for the other shades of blue so the arrows would line up.

I accented with a few other colors to make it fun and summery (most products from Crate Paper The Pier collection), and again, some more sequins to give that sparkling water look!  Finally some contrast with some circles in cork and woodgrain and some splatters of yellow mist.

Thanks for stopping by today for the hop and stay scrappy my friends!

Since this was the anniversary edition of PaperHaus and we are celebrating ONE year, I thought I would share a birthday page, too!  My little guy turned 2 in July...I can't believe how fast the time is flying by!  I used bits from the Party Day collection from Crate Paper.

I have been playing with water colors lately, and love what they add to a page!  I was experimenting with some circles and liked how they looked overlapped, so I used them for the background.  The circle chipboard and die cut shapes help tie all the circles together.

A birthday page isn't complete without some banners and pennants!  And I added a little tag with some journaling behind the photo.

Wood veneer stars misted with gold and balloons tied with twine!

This squiggly doodled circle is my favorite stamp, and I love the detail it adds to a page!  My pages never feel complete until I add in some stitching somewhere for texture, too.

Thanks for hopping by today and stay scrappy my friends!

An Easter (2012) Mini

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a project that I recently made for Basically Bare.  It's a little mini  about an Easter event that I took my kids to last year. Yes, I am scrapping last year's photos! (When a particular "season" rolls around, I like to look at my photos from the year before and scrap them!)

I started with a Pocket album, and took it apart to cover the pages and stitch on the pages. The design on each page is fairly simple: a piece of patterned paper on one edge, a 2nd piece punched with flower shapes on the other, and a striped piece down the seam of the 2. I machine stitched around the edge of each page, too.

Then I cut a doily with my electronic die cutting machine and placed it on each page. I just added some photos and some simple flowers and stickers here and there. The journaling is on a tab in the back of the album.

For the cover, I covered it with patterned paper and then with a piece of lace. Then I splattered it with paint. I layered some stickers, fussy cut patterned papers, buttons, and twine.

This album was also featured in the latest edition of Paper Haus magazine, which you can see HERE!
Stay Scrappy my friends!
