We are Perfect Together- *Scrapbook Circle Jan. kit*

When I opened up the January Scrapbook Circle kit, it was like spring hit me right in the face! The colors are so bright and fun, and although many of the papers are from valentine's collections, they are versiatle enough to use for anything, and I love that about kits!

I was drawn to this bright, watercolor print paper from the Basic Grey Fresh Cut collection and thought it would be perfect for some girly photos of Charlotte and I from a wedding in November that we were both in together.  I used sketch #258 from Creative Scrappers that you can see HERE.  I began by splattering the background with white paint, and the white cardstock strip with black paint.

I stuck closely to the sketch, and the squares that weren't photos I wanted to really jazz up a bit.  On this one, I used the January cutting file from the Scrapbook Circle store and wove the metal clip through the holes.  I added a fussy cut heart doily from a piece of Crate Paper and popped another heart from the same paper off of it.

I needed to balance some of the green color that was on the patterned paper, and the Heidi Swapp "Citron" color shine mist was a PERFECT match!  I painted the exclusive SBC wood veneer square white and then misted it with the citron mist.  I added another small doily and the xoxo from a piece of paper.

Finally, I layered some fussy cut flowers and a doily on another square.

And here is a little look at the kit!  What do you think??

Believe...

I am never caught up with my Christmas photos.  Doing a December Daily at least makes me happy that I get it all documented, but I really like to do layouts with my photos, too!

So anyways, here is a page with a Santa photo from 2012!  It was the only Santa photo we got that year, although it wasn't the only time we saw a Santa.  It was at the Christmas Carousel near my parents house.

I made this page based on the 12/27 sketch from the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog (which, by the way, is having a DT call that you can check out HERE).  I used the Basic Grey 25th & Pine colllection, which I purchased (of course!) at the My Scraps & More store!

I shrunk the sketch down a bit and decided I needed to add a border to the bottom, so I just used some washi tape.  On the background, I splattered some mists and added a few sequins here and there, and some wood veneer bits, too.

I wanted to add some interest to the squares in the sketch, so I added some vellum tags from Pink Paislee and some glittery brads.

I kept the title simple using a Heidi Swapp sticker and another vellum piece from Pink Paislee.

With the new year approaching and the holidays over, I am going to try to post more....I've been slacking the past few months!

Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree.....

...how lovely are thy branches.....

We seriously got the fattest Christmas tree EVER!  It took three men to pull it through the baling machine!  This is the first time we've put a tree in front of our bay windows, and it looks so beautiful!

I really wanted the photo to stand out on this page, so I used minimal patterned paper and a white background.  But I wanted to add some interest to the background, so I created a cut file using SCAL2 and a font called Sego Script.  I welded the letter together and cut it out on my Cricut.

I added a few splatters of paint under the large title on the white cardstock to make it stand out just a bit more. I didn't do any journaling on this page because the title pretty much says it all!  :)

The design of this page is based on a sketch at Stuck?! sketches, which you can see HERE, and a color combo challenge at My Scraps & More.  I used die cuts from Simple Stories, papers from Webster's and Basic Grey, and gold stars from Studio Calico.

I also used a few vellum pieces and tags from Pink Paislee, and a wood veneer circle that i misted green to balance the page a bit.

Hello Christmas Tree!

I try to limit myself to the Christmas collections I buy each year because there are always just SOOO many great ones!  I bought three, and the Glitz Designs "Hello December" was one of them!  I just loved the bold colors in this collection, and especially the yellow, which I think is so different for holiday collections!  I picked it up in the My Scraps & More store!

I did this page about getting our tree this year!  It is by far one of the biggest trees we have ever had!  We stumbled across this great "cut your own" place kinda by accident, and trees were only $5 a foot.  They had awesome things for kids to do and we had a great time! I was inspired by Tammi's challenge on the 12 Days of Christmas challenges to use cards (4x6 or 3x4) on your page.

The word "Christmas" is actually cut from one of the papers in the collection.  The triangle (tree) is a sticker from the sticker sheet.

I decided to go with the small car/tree sticker (there is another larger one in the die cut pack) because I wanted my photos to stand out more.  I just poppe the sticker off a circle I punched from patterned paper.

On the background, you can see I used a Glitz roller doodle stamp to created the triangles, and then I cut the tree from patterned paper.

I have been so in the mood to get my Christmas photos scrapped, but I just don't have the time right now!  I am excited for Christmas, though, so I can get lots more photos!  :)

Play Date! And a sketch DT call!!!

Charlotte has been making some new friends at school this year, and we have had our first couple of playdates!

I love the colors in the Basic Grey RSVP collection that I got from My Scraps & More.  Even though it is birthday themed, it was perfect for this fun "playtime" page!

I used the latest sketch from the My Scraps & More sketch blog, HERE!

And here is the sketch:

I kept the page pretty simple.  I used some stickers for a small banner in the top corner.  I splattered some mists and some star stickers on the page to add movement.

The I popped some letter stickers up near my journaling with the girls' initials.  And I created a visual triangle with three large circle stickers, too.

Do you like using collections for themes other than what they were intended?  Then maybe you would like Tammi's Day 6 challenge on the 12 Days of Christmas going on at the Forums!  You have until January 5th to enter your projects!

Also, the My Scraps Sketch Blog is having a DT call.  Requirement are 2 sketches a month.  Check out all the details HERE.

There are so so many fabulous Christmas lines out this year, and every year I say to myself, "I don't NEED anymore Christmas".  And even though I did buy a few, I justified this Crate Paper "Bundled Up" collection as being more "winter" themed than Christmas (which it most definitely is).  I have a lot of snowy photos from last year and these were a few of my favorite of Charlotte using her new sled after Christmas.

I wanted to do something with triangles, and I was thinking about my photos and triangles, I began thinking about the slope of the hill while you are "dashing down", so I cut the triangles at right angles to mimic a slope. There are 3 different sizes and three different papers.

On the background, I began by heat embossing some snowflakes with clean powder and then going over the paper with a light blue water color wash, with a few splatters of paint here and there.  Then I arranged my traingles and stitched down the slope of each  with some shiny silver thread.

I layered some chipboard embellishments, some die cuts, and even some transparencies over the photos.

And the little sled chipboard piece was the perfect accent, as was this die cut for my title!  I added a few additional snowflakes here and there punched from white cardstock and a few sequins for sparkle, too!

I'm sharing some more details of a mini album I have featured in this issue. It's true.  I never finished my December Daily last year.  That's because I just finished it last month!!  Last Decemeber I focused on the journaling, which was important for me, and I did pretty good at.  Yes, there were a few days I missed, but considering what a crazy time of year it is PLUS we moved on Dec. 17 after living with my parents for 6 months, it was a LOT!  So I am happy to share my finished album with you today!

I posted how I created my jouraling pages last year.  You can read about it HERE.

The cover I covered with paper, splattered some gold mist, cut a circle from a transparency (with the reindeer on it), and layered some die cut snowflakes and other little embellishments.

For the inside pages, I used the Fancy Pants Brag Book pages that hold two 4x6 photos.  If I had portrait oriented photos, I simply added them to a piece of 5x7 patterened paper and embellished it.  I added these pages inbetween the photo sleeves and other jorunaling pages.  I just went along and embellished each page with some die cuts, stickers, washi tape, chipboard, and more!  So here are some of the pages:
