August Crop Addict Kit Reveal!

SO here we are at the end of July and we are talking about August already! Where does the time go? This has been such a wonderful wonderful summer for me so far.

I have traveled to NY with a VERY limited supply of scrappy products and tools. I have a pair of scissors, some adhesive, and my other tools, plus a few cat’s eye ink pads and some glossy accents. That’s IT! So the LO’s that you see below have been made with just my small stash of tools. It reminded me that you don’t need much to make a page that is special…it is the memories that matter.

I would like to introduce you to the August Kit at Crop Addict:

There are just TONS of goodies in this kit, and it is perfect for summer and travel themed LO’s.

On our way to NY this summer, we had quite the day of travel when we missed out first flight because of the long security lines. What should have been a 6 hour trip turned into 12. I was so nervous about how Charlotte would do on the plane, but she did so good! I brought lots of quite things for her to play with on the plane.

This LO uses a lot of the Adorn It! Travel papers. I loved the paper with all the circles of travel icons so I cut them out and arranged them in clusters.

When I started this LO, I was thinking about how high Keith was throwing Charlotte in the air, which got me thinking about how I could use the travel papers for these photos. I thought, “well planes go high in the air and so do butterflies”, so I used theses images from the papers in the kit. But I wanted one more “flying” thing, so I made a kite out of some paper scraps and used actual kite string for the tail.

I was originally going to use these photos on a double page spread, but since I don’t have any extra CS with me, I decided to pare it down to a one pager. But I still used 4, 4x6 photos on the page. This is a great way to get a lot of photos on one page, without cropping!

I just used some small piece of paper to fill out the inner square and journaled around the edge of the cardstock.

I have a few more things I am working on for this kit, so stay tuned!!!  :) You can purchase the kit in the Crop Addict Store HERE.

Summer is here!!!!

Hello loyal blog followers (and all other visitors, of course!). I am in the middle of our stay in NY for the summer and it has been an absolutely beautiful time! We are spending our days on the lake and on the river, enjoying sweet corn and watermelon, going for boat rides and playing Kan Jam (look it up….its FUN!), swimming and going for walks. We smell like campfires and the woods, our skin is getting bronzed and our hair is turning light light blonde.  Yes, it is a wonderful summer here.

My head is filled with how all these events and moments are going to pan out onto all my scrapbooking pages! I brought some stuff with me, but haven't cracked it open yet.

Speaking of which, I have some FANTASTIC news!

First of all, I found out that I am going to be a guest designer this September over at Citrus Tree Studios!!!! I am very excited to work with the kits. The message board over there is quite inspiring!

Seecondly, I found out that I made a Design Team of a store that I have been following for a long time!!!! I am so so so so so excited to be a part of the Scrapbook Circle Design Team!!! The best best BESTEST part of this is the AMAZING ladies that I am going to be working with!!! I mean, look at this line up:

And thirdly, I found out that I made the Crop Addict Design Team, as well!! I am new to this community, but I have seen a lot of familiar faces on the board. American Crafts Showcase!!!

Yes, I am applying for the American Crafts Design Team Call!   So I thought I would share some images of all the projects I have created with American Crafts Products over the last few months.  Each of these has been posted on my blog at some point in the past 5 months, so if you want further details, you might have to go hunting a bit!  :)  Thanks for looking and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

There's no place like home...

As we are about to leave for our summer vacation, I just finished up this altered 7 Gypsies Tray of our home...there's no place like it!  :)

I wanted to incorporate some American Crafts Abode stamps that I have, and the stamp sets are what actually gave me the ideas for this tray.  Each section of the tray started to become a little "room", just like in a doll house.

Everything is stamped and then heat embossed with American Crafts Zing powders. All the stamps came from the AC Abode line.

The papers are from the AC Metropolitan line, and I just love this color scheme of the blue, red, beige and black. The chandlier piece is from a Teresa Collins paper.  I added some black stickle to make the glass beads sparkle!

My favorite part about this has got to be the little outlet I made for the vacuum plug.  I used some black wire and attached it to the vacuum, and then I just drew a little outlet on a piece of white scrap paper.  I used some puffy fabric paint to make the plug and stuck the wire into it so it would stay.

This is going to be hanging in our front entry-way, so you can see a closer peek when you stop by!  :)  TFL!

Why I haven't been scrapping...

...I have been sewing instead!!

OK, here's how this all started:

I follow the blog Little Birdie Secrets and I saw a post with this cute little purse clutch, which was originally posted on the blog From An Igloo..  I was trying to think of what fabric to use, and then it hit me: I have been dieing to use the American Crafts Dear Lizzy fabric paper for a sewing project!!!

I cut the fabric while it was still on the adhesive backing and then gently ripped it off the adhesive.  I followed the simple instructions to make this little clutch!

I added a few of the Dear Lizzy crocheted flowers and an AC brad to one of the flower centers. The inside is even lined with some more Dear Lizzy fabric:

OK, so as  was browsing the From An Igloo blog, I saw this tutorial for this adorable "In the Garden" shirred dress.  I have never shirred before and it took me hours to figure it out.  I finally resorted to going to my machines ancient manual, and guess what????  I have been threading my bobbin wrong since I started using my machine over 20 years ago!!  Well once I figured that out, the shirring with the elastic  thread worked just fine!!!   I love this dress and these fabrics which i bought at Hobby Lobby.

I need to make a diaper cover for Charlotte when she wears this dress cause when she bends over you can see her hiney.  So I searched for a diaper cover tutorial and that is when I stumbled upon Prudent Baby.  AWESOME AWESOME blog!  So many free instructions and ideas!

So now I'm totally in the sewing mood, and I bought a whole bunch of fabrics.  Back to From an Igloo where I followed directions for the One Hour Sundress, which actually took only an hour!!  I LOVE this dress and these fabrics.  This was so simple to do.

I made a matching barette with a flower to match!  The straps are a bit loose, but she'll grow into it!

So loving these fabrics, I wanted to make something for myself, so BACK AGAIN to Prudent Baby.  There is a section there called "Hot Mess Mommy"...just like me.  There is this cute cute little pleated purse which I made in a snap!!!!!!

SEW, this is what I have been doing lately!!!  Now that I have had my sewing fix, I think I am going back to
 scrapping tonight!
