Magpie Club Sept REVEAL and KIT GIVEAWAY!!! (kit photos added)

This post is coming to you a little late, but it is here nonetheless!  I want to share with you the three pages I did with the Magpie Club September kit!

First of all, I LOVE bright and bold colors, and this kit is packed with them!  Plus, some of my favorite manufacturers: Crate, Cosmo, and Pink Paislee (plus lots of others!!)

You can CLICK HERE to see the full contents of the kit.

So this was the first page I did and I have used this black and white striped paper before in tiny quantities on previous pages, but I thought I'd try it out as a background, and I love the way it turned out!

This is my mom and Charlotte and I. Charlotte wanted us to all paint our "neals" (that how she says it...:) so we all painted them the same color. She is so cute when you tell her to sit still and blow on them to dry.  But no matter how many coats I put on, it always seems to come off the next day.

I fussy cut all the trees and flowers from the My Little Shoebox paper.  Yes, it took a while!  :)

The heart is cut from the Bella Blvd paper and I added some glossy accents, which I haven't used on a page in a while...gotta get back into that cause I love the stuff...

This page is a little bit more of a simple design for me, but it was the story I was focused on.  My mom got Charlotte into the habit of closing her eyes in anticipation of a surprise, so when we are playing and she wants to give me something, she says "Close eyes mamma, close eyes".  But lately she has been messing up "ah-pu" (open) eyes and close eyes, so she tells me to "ah-pu" them when she really wanted me to close them.  Also, she has been closing her eyes when she has been naughty...as if we can't see her anymore!  :)

OK, I totally messed up the stitching on this circle!   I tried to cover it up by adding additional circles that were messy, but now they all just look messy.  But I will embrace the imperfection...

Again, a lot more fussy cutting on this banner.  I think I could cut my LO time in half if I didn't do fussy cutting....

And lastly, when I saw this "hopscotch" paper with all the number on the Echo Park paper, the first idea that popped into my head was a "10 things" list. So I wrote a list of 10 things I wanted to remember about my little guy right now....(like those little toes...aren't they adorable??!)

When I made my class kits for the last class I taught at my LSS, I punched out some squares from some patterned papers and saved the "negatives".  So I used them as masks on some navy cardstock and sprayed with white ink.  The word "You" are some Studio Calico wood veneer letters that I misted yellow.

Oh, and MORE fussy cutting of all the numbers out of the paper!  :)

Well thanks for looking at my layouts, and now for a GIVEAWAY!!!

I'm gonna make you work just a bit for this one.  I am giving away the entire August Magpie Club Kit!!!!!!!

Here's what happened: I waited and waited for my kit in July, and it never came.  I had emailed Tara about it and she said she had sent it already.  Well it finally got here...ON AUGUST 1!!  It was postmarked sometime in early July....the box was ripped and crushed and it had obviuosly gotten wet because the writing was all smeared.  The condition was just awful.  But all the contents inside were in a plastic bag, and there wasn't a wrinkle in any of the papers!!!   But by then I had just had the baby, and just wasn't going to get to it, PLUS, Septemebers kit (the one featured above) was due to arrive soon, anyways!!

SOOOOOO......I am going to give this kit away because I am just not going to get to kit.  But what I would like you to do is this:

1).  Visit the following ladies blogs.  They are on the DT for Magpie Club.  Leave them a comment.  It can be on a post related to anything, but just leave them some love.  And I GUARANTEE that you will be inspired somewhere on one (if not all!) of these blogs.

2).  Come back here when you have done that and leave me a comment, too!

I will draw a random winner on September 19th to win the kit!!

Thanks so much!!

Magpie Club July Reveal with a Sketchy Thursdays SKETCH!

Happy last day of June everyone!  We are trying to beat the heat here, but it is just so HOT everyday...ugh....but that means I get to spend a lot of time inside scrappin'!  :)

I am so excited to reveal the July Magpie Club kit today!  I just LOVE the pages I was able to make with this kit!  You can check out the entire kit HERE.

First up I want to share a page I did with the kit based on today's Sketchy Thursdays reveal.  Here is this weeks sketch.

I usually like doing 2 pagers, but had these photos printed, and when I looked at the right side of the sketch, I decided just to do a single page LO.

I added in kraft paper elements to be the "peanut butter" color, misted with a bit of purple "jelly" color, and then used some pinks and green for "fruity" colors!  :)  That was the basis of this page.

The title area I cut with my cricut.  Since it sits out on my shelf now and I have direct access to it, I have actually been using it more and more!  The scalloped edge circles are from THIS BLOG which has some great free svg files.

Lastly, for the chipboard pieces on my title, I actually peeled off th top layer of the Cosmo Cricket aqua blue letters to reveal the raw chipboard and then misted them with purple mist.  LOVE this technique and the color came out just as I wanted.

This next page I really worked around my photo.  I love this shot I got of my mom and Charlotte, and she is looking directly at the camera and I gt her face right through a cloud of bubbles!  Perfect!  So I went with the bubble theme and the colors in the photo as well.

The background paper is actually the back side of one of the patterned Hambly papers in the kit.  It is hard to tell, but it has this irridescent sheen to it that reminded me of the bubbles, so that is why I used it!

I love the layered look of the Glitz cardstock frame with the chipboard "photos" piece from GCD Studios.

Of course I added in some stiched for my journaling and across the chipboard pieces of my title, too.

This kit is SOO diverse, that I was also able to create this colorful page using some of the Pink Paislee Hometown Summer papers!!!

I love the "wave" paper and cut out along some of the waves.  Then of course I stitched all the wave lines .  The background paper I painted with a white wash to tone down the text a bit, but I love using text paper as my backgrounds!

Isn't that yellow striped ribbon just beautiful!  One of my favorite bits in this kit!

I decided to do printed journaling strips, which I haven't done in a while.

And I layered a bunch of elements from the huge bag full of little pieces that come in the.  I really loved the red Jenni Bowlin crepe paper ribbon...it is so easy to work with and pleat.

And I saved my favorite page for last!!  I don't know where this came from....it just kinda fell together!  This is a little reflection of how I am feeling at week 33 of my pregnancy...things are going well!   :)

I knew I wanted to use some bright colors and I also wanted to make a flower with that scallopped crete paper ribbon, which turned out so pretty!  PLUS I wanted to use the whole sheet of Studio Calico rubons, so that's where the design all started.

Here are some of the gorgeous and sparkly Glitz stickers that are transparent.  I added the rubons beneath them because they wouldn't rub on the top.

I like layering rubons on top of things, so I layered them over the stickers, too.  The scallops on the bottom ar large orange sequins that complement the Glitz stickers so well!

And here is the beautiful flower that came from the crepe paper ribbon, embellished with a Glitz sticker and a Girl's Paperie flag.   LOVE how this came out!

Please go visit Magpie Club to see all the other wonderful creations the DT came up with!

And tomorrow I have another FOUR projects to share with my Memorable Seasons reveal!

Give Yourself a Lift....

This was a first for me.  I did a scraplift of myself!!!!!

I created this page last year and it was one of my most favoritse ones that I did all year.  I had actually done it for a DT call at My Little Shoebox (which I didn't make!  :)  ).  But my page was in the top 3 a Two Peas for a day, and that made me happy!

I love it so much and I was thinking about it a few weeks ago and decided to recreate the photo shoot and the page!

I used the May Kit from Magpie Club, and tried to stick to a similiar color scheme.

I had to flip the sketch becuase Charlotte was looking to the right this time, and I always orient my photos so that the subject is looking to the middle of the page (if I can).

I love all the layered pieces I used on the page, and I lifted some of the original elements like the black stitching around the border and the photo, and the pen lines around the scalloped circle.

If you have a page that you really love,  or perhaps even a reoccuring event that you have already scrapped about before, try lifiting yourself!  If you liked it the first time, you'll probably like it the 2nd time around, too!  :)

More Magpie Club!!!!!!!!

I want to share two more pages that I did for the Magpie Club May Kit

Tara (the owner) recently had an adorable baby boy, and so took a break from the kits for a few months.  This May kit is the first since her break, and it is beautiful!!!  I was so honored to be chosen as part of her design team.

This first page I was inspired by a sketch by Jana Eubank (LOVE her sketches!).  The circles in the sketch were perfect for my bubble theme!

I did some free motion stitching to make some "movement" across the page, and added some chipboard pieces and sequins that came in the kit.

On my letters, I added some glossy accents in the middles to give a "bubble" effect.

I have really been loving double pagers lately, probably cause I take so many photos!

This page is about Charlotte's first experience with a popsicle....it wasn't pleasant.  She got a terrible head freeze and started crying.  I could tell that she really wanted to like it, but she was so disappointed!

I hand cut a popsicle from the orange BG paper and added an old rub on stick.  The banner I cut by hand and added some punched shapes and the alphas from the kit.

UPDATE: We have since tried a popsicle again, this time with better luck and she enjoyed it!  :)

I have one more Magpie Club page to share, but will do so later in the week.  Also, I have some updates about my scrapbooking room...which is no more....to make way for a new nursery....and so I have a new creative space....

Once Upon a Sketch, YSS, and MAGPIE CLUB REVEAL!!!

I am so excited to write this post today!  There is a lot going on during the 1st of the month!

This month, Your Scrapbook Stash is sponsoring Once Upon a...Sketch, challenge blog.  If you haven't visited this blog before, there are two challenges posted a month, one on the 1st and one on the 15th.  For each sketch, there is also a journaling requirement that differs every sketch.  It is a great way to make sure you get your memories down on your pages!!!

Not only do you have a chance to win at Once Upon a...Sketch, you also can link your page to YSS and win a prize there, too!  Here is the post to link at YSS.

Here is the May 1st sketch.  The journaling criteria is to use a journaling spot for your writing.

And here is my page.  My husband takes so much pride in his cooking, and he just beams when he has spent all day smoking a brisket and it comes out PERFECT!  :)  So here he is with his brisket, (and beer).

Now here's the great thing about my page: I made it with the May Magpie Club KIT!!!!! (and most of the items also happen to be available at YSS, too, individually.

Do you know what a Magpie is?  It is a bird related to a crow (but much prettier) that collects and hoards small bits and objects and shiny things.  Sound familiar?  My "nest" is overflowing with small scrappy bits and shiny things!  :)

This kit is absolutely gorgeous!  I am going to give you a few sneak peaks at a couple more pages I did, and then I will reveal them tomorrow!!!
