Scrappin' Our Stash Monthly Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Scrappin' Our Stash Monthly Blog Hop!   A group of us get together every month and create something with our stash!  It's a great way to encourage each other to use up what we have.  You should get a group of friends together and do it, too!

Today I am sharing a page with some older Studio Calico goodies from the South of Market collection.  I bought this collection last year to use with some photos of a farm trip that we went on.  Well we went to the farm again this year, so I thought I'd use some more up!

I started by layering some large triangle shaped pieces of paper on the left and put a border sticker on the edge.   I added some vellum behind my photo to make it stand out more.

And nothing says "farm" more than a little burlap, so I raided my stash for some burlap bits.  The flower cluster is from Little Yellow Bicycle and the other burlap bits are from Simple Stories.

I finished it off with some stitching and some mist splatters.

And here is my page that I created with the June kit!

I cut out a starbust pattern from the Authentique paper in the kit and added a few rays of some other papers as well.  Some stiching, cork arrows from the Crate Paper Journey stickers, and the exclusive Scrapbook Circle flair were thrown in, too!

I used the "Food for Thought" cut file and the "Now I Know My ABC's" file from the Cut Shoppe store and cut them out using some kraft paper.  I LOVE working with an alphabet cut file....its just awesome to be able to make the title the exact size you want!  For the "O's" in my title, I just made a circle with some smaller circles to look like cookies!

I used this circle from the "Food for Thought" file and backed it with some black cardstock to make is stand out more.  I love how this circle have a little "wedge" that you can kinda clip it onto another paper or photo.

Scrappin' Our Stash....monthly Blog Hop!

Piles and piles of stash....gotta use some UP!!!!  

Scrappin' Our Stash Monthly Blog Hop helps me dig it out and put it to use!  I haven't participated the last few months because I have been so busy, but I had been digging through some older things and have been itching to use them!  So here is my page I am sharing with you today:

I pulled out a whole bunch of 6x6 pads from my stash that I get in kit club add ons, and a some papers and embellies from Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine collection.

I found this awesome fish file in the Silhouette store, and this was NOT how I originally intended to use it, but I am happy with how it came out!  I spent the most time adding the bits of paper to the background.

Then I added some stitching to look like a fishing line and backed my photo with some distressed papers.  Some mist splatters, enamel dots, and sequins help add a splashy feel!

Now let me share with you something I made with the May kit!

We recently took a trip to Florida and I had a lot of great photos that I wanted to showcase together. I really wanted to use these Pink Paislee Cirtrus Bliss Insta Frames and other 4x4 cards, but I don't scrap Project Life style.  I also wasn't feeling a mini album, but somehow I wanted to get everything on the page!

And then, the PACKAGING of the Citrus Bliss frames inspired me!  When you look at the package, you will notice that there are layered tiers of products, and I wanted to create the same effect on my page.

I had some pockets in my stash that are clear and hold 4x4 photos, and they have an adhesive strip on them to help hold them to the page.

I just added my 14 photos, the frames, and some of the cards and transparencies from the pack.  I also added in a few pieces of paper from the Amy Tan Rise and Shine 6x6 pad (cut to 4x4) for some more journaling spots.

I used some of the Crate Paper wood veneer with glitter for some accents, and the fun gold clips from Rise & Shine, too!

This was a SUPER simple and fun way to get FOURTEEN photos on one page!

Create your own sunshine! Weekly Scrapper at Scrapbook Expo blog!

Hello there!  I am so excited to share that I was asked to contribute as the Weekly Scrapper to the Scrapbook Expo blog this week!  I had to make a special project exclusive for the blog, and I get to finally share it with you today!

So this was the first real *warmer* day of spring, and my daughter came running off the bus, whipping her coat off yelling, "It's SUMMER!  It's SUMMER!"  It was really about 50 deg. F.!  lol.  But she was full of energy, and after a long winter, the sunshine just does that to you!

Now, honestly, I DON'T dress my kids to match my scrapbook papers, but the navy shirt my daughter was wearing in these photos just went so well with the Saffron Yellow collection from Jillibean Soup!  You can see the collection HERE in the My Scraps & More store.

The first thing I wanted to do was cut out these beautiful flowers from the patterned paper.  So I fussy cut the large flowers and then popped up some smaller flowers in the middle with tiny black brads for centers.

My background is a white on white flower die cut with a floral cut file from the Silhouette store.  Once I glued the die cut down, I machine stitched inside some of the flower shapes to add some texture and interest.

Farewell to Inspiration Elevator!

After some thought and consideration, the time has come to retire Inspiration Elevator. But before we go, we need to hold a big retirement party, so we've invited everyone who's been involved with Inspiration Elevator back for one last reveal, and to our delight most were able to accept! We are so delighted to have so many IE alumni along this month! Thank you to each of you for helping us end our elevator ride with so much fun and creative energy!

This month's challenge is posed by one of IE's co-creators and team admin, Ann.

This month's challenge is simple, but I hope, challenging as well. 
Here's the challenge: Inspiration Elevator launched on May 15, 2012 and at that time, we explained our purpose as, "Welcome to Inspiration Elevator! What a thrilling day! Today is the launch of Inspiration Elevator (IE), a challenge blog created by my dear friend Christa Uttley and me. We chose the name Inspiration Elevator because it is our intent to raise our creativity to heights through challenges issued every month. We want to raise our designs from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We hope you'll join us on our journey!

IE is a group of like minded scrappy friends who want to raise the bar in their own creative process through unique challenges that we issue to each other once a month. These won't be run of the mill challenges and we hope you'll join us each month and be inspired by the creative designs we've created." 

That vision has remained unchanged over the last (almost) 3 years. The challenge this month is to just create - no holds barred. Take some time, or challenge yourself to do it in 1/2 hour if time is tight, but think about what you'd like to create if there were no agenda, no design team requirement. In other words, create for you, and enjoy the process!

I have been struggling to find time to scrap since I took over the My Scraps & More store.  But last weekend I went to a 2 day crop with the intention of scrapping WHAT I WANTED!

One of my favorite things to do  are challenges from manufacturers blogs or sketch challenge blogs.  And t just so happened that I recently got the October Afternoon Saturday Morning collection in the store.  On the OA blog, there was a challenge to use "12 squares", and I was inspired to do just that!

Instead of doing 12 squares that were all the same size, I did 12 squares of difference sizes.  I went through my stash and found some other OA papers from the Apple Cider collection, and some of the Tidbits, too, and added those in the mix.  I decorated some of the squares with little bits, punches, and flair.

Inspiration Elevator was always a treat to do every month when I was on the team!  It was always amazing to see the many different ways the incredible designers interpreted the challenges!

I'm so glad I got to be a part of it!

Hello 2015! Top pages of 2014

WOW!!  It's the longest I've gone without blogging in about 6 years.  Is anyone still out there?  lol...actually, I really MISS posting my memories on here that have gone along with each scrapbook page I have created.  Blogging sometimes can be tedious, but when I go back through and look at my posts and stories about my kids from a few years ago, it's so worth it!  So I am going to TRY and pick this up again on a regular basis.

As you may or may not know, back in January 2014, I took over ownership of the online scrapbook store, My Scraps & More.  It has been a huge learning curve, but I have LOVED getting in piles of products and shipping them out to others who love them just as much.  The store itself, Facebook page, Instagram, message board, gallery, store blog, and sketch blog take up a LOT of time, and that is why you've seen less of me here.  (PLEASE come join us at one of these links!!  We have an awesome DT and do giveaways all the time!)

HOWEVER, if you don't know, every Monday I post on the store blog...so if you want to see some of my recent pages, please stop by there!
