Hello Happiness!

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share this SUPER fun new cut file with you today from the JustNick Studio store!

There are just so many possibilities for the Spacey Circle Background.  Cut it big, or cut it small.

And this file works great both with the negative cut out AND the positive cut out!

I made one cut of this file from a piece of patterned paper from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Bloom collection with lots of colors and a busy pattern.  I glued the strips to my page and stitched over them.

I wanted to highlight some of the circles, so I added a ton of circular elements to my page like enamel dots, buttons, and flair.  All of these were from my stash!

I fussy cut out the banner from a piece of patterned paper and popped it off the page. And of course I splattered some mists around here and there, too!

I am so excited to share how I used the Jillibean Soup Wooden Nickles, which you can find HERE in the My Scraps & More store!  I also used today's sketch from the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog!

We went to the circus a few weeks ago, and it was a first for both my kiddos.  My littlest one would NOT go near the clowns!  This dog (who was a mascot for something...I can't remember) was sitting next to the clowns, and Kyler just LOVED him....but that was a close as we got to the clowns!

And here is today's sketch from the sketch blog:

The circles on the sketch were perfect inspiration for me to use the Wooden Nickles.  I started by picking some papers that went with the colors of my photo and the nickles.  I chose to stick to a black and white background to really make the colors pop.  I layered some of the papers behind my photo and machine stitched with black thread.  I used a plain white tag and added some faux stitching around the edge and added some more detailed journaling behind my photo.

I laid out the nickles and decided that I needed some more circles, so I punch some from grey paper, again, to make the colors stand out.  Then I dug into my stash and used some of the vellum die cuts from Studio Calico Printshop....they had similar colors to what I was looking for.  The big blue heart and the camera are both from these die cuts.

Finally, I added a few more circular elements including tags from Elle's Studio and a brad from Simple Stories, plus some enamel dots from Doodlebug Designs.

Hope you enjoy the blog hop and have a wonderful National Scrapbook Day!

Let's Be Explorers!- Scrapbook Circle sketch

Hello all!  Back again with another page using the April Scrapbook Circle Kit!  I played along with Diana's sketch today on the SBC blog AND used the exclusive cut file she created on my page as well!

A few weeks ago, while at my parents, the kids and my dad and I went for a little walk and did some "exploring"!  Charlotte picked up some pinecones and sticks, and Kyler a big pile of leaves....all of which ended up in my pocket because we had to "keep" them!  :)

One of my favorite items is the pack of die cuts from the Fancy Pants "As You Wish" collection.  So using Diana's circle cut file as inspiration, I pulled out some of the circular elements from the die cuts and also the buttons, too.

For my journaling area, I just left one of the circle open to write in!  A pretty simple page for me, but I loved using that circle cut file!

Be sure to share your take on the sketch on the Scrapbook Circle FB page and blog, too!

Paddlin'...up the lake...

Look at this goofy girl with the goggles on and trying to paddle the tube.   She's a riot!   She doesn't even swim with goggles....

I played along this week with the Skissedilla sketch challenge just because!!!   I still have SO many summer photos to use up, and I am really going to try to tackle my summer papers stash to make way for all the new goodies coming my way soon!  :)  My summer layouts seem to have a pattern:  blues, yellows, and sequins.  I am hooked on the sequins and how they give my water pages a bit of sparkle.

On the background, I added some bright blue water colors, and then went over it with a circle stencil and some white paint and Frosted Sorbet from Art Anthology to give it some texture. I splattered some yellow and navy mists, and used a small polka dot stamp with some black ink.

I actually used some scraps that were sitting on my desk, along with some papers from my stash (mostly Studio Calico and Crate Paper).  Then I dug through my bin of die cuts and chipboard and found a few other pieces that worked, like these pennants from Basic Grey.

Even though summer is technically over, I will still be posting quite a lot over the next few weeks!

Pancake Breakfast!

Every 1st Saturday of the month, there is a pancake breakfast at a church near the cottage at the lake.  They have scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, and homemade blueberry sauce for $5!!!  You can't beat it!  And the kids just LOVE the pancakes (they are pretty tasty, I have to admit!).

When I saw this month's sketch on the Lily Bee blog, the big circles just reminded me of pancakes, so I used it for my page.

I started by die cutting the large circle from white cardstock using SCAL2 and my Cricut.  I chose brown and blue papers to go with the blueberry and pancakes theme, and then added in some yellow for contrast.

I machine stitched a frame in the middle of the page, and then just added some punched circles here and there.  I fussy cut the triangles from patterned paper and layered them with some labels and buttons, too.

You can see that I popped the brown paper off the back of the page to give it some depth.

So you might notice that my husband has his eyes closed in the photo. It was the only one I had of him, and he HATES getting his photo taken.  But I decided I needed to use it anyways!  I want my kids to know (when they look back through these pages after year go by) that daddy was there at these events, too!!  So I'm am gonna tell him that he better start smiling, because I am putting the photo on regardless!  :)

Bubble Boy

He tries.  But he just can't blow a bubble. More bubble solution is spilled and swallowed than is made into bubbles.  But ya know what?  He has a blast!  :)

Bubbles, to me, means the start of warmer weather.  It's the first thing the kids want to do when they start going outside.  And it a past-time that lasts all summer long!  I used some Lily Bee papers and stickers and such to go along with their "summertime" challenge.

I was scrapping on the go when I did this page, so I didn't have access to all my usual tools.  I wanted to do circles, though, to go with the bubble theme, so I used my trusty template and cut them all out by hand.  I placed them on the other patterned papers and decided I wanted them to pop more, so I cut out a slightly larger circle from the lower paper to give a white border to the circles.  Then I distressed the edges of the circles and popped a few off the page.

I love the way the arrows in the circles go in all different directions, just like bubble!  I bit of splattered and a few buttons and stickers, and then a bit of faux stitching cause I didn't have my sewing machine.  Voila, it's done!

Hope you are enjoying all your summer past-times!  Stay scrappy my friends!

Ladies, please contact me with your mailing information so I can get your prizes out to you! audreykit at yahoo dot com

Speaking of Paper Issues, here is another page I made with the "Lucky You" kit!  The colors of my photos were kinda yuck, so I changed them to black and white.  The smoothies we made were berry and banana, so I used some pinks, blues, and yellow.  I was thinking of round berries, so I used a circle scheme for my page!

I used the circle idea as the basis for my challenge at the My Scraps & More Spring into Summer Crop.  Check it out HERE!

This wood button from MME was a bit too dark, so I just painted over it with a whitewash to tone the color down a bit.

For each circle, I outlined it with a white pen just to make it stand out a bit more.  A few of the circles I popped off the page.  And I LOVE these word stickers from Jillibean!

The alphas weren't part of the kit, but were the perfect color yellow!  Lastly I added this chipboard piece with some twine tied in a bow.

I've got a lot more to share this week AND another blog hop with a prize coming up early next week!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #246- Love them cookies!

I seriously don't care anymore if food gets all over the house, because it's gonna even if I try and make sure it doesn't.  So I gave my little guy an Oreo because he wanted a "deet-de" (cookie) and let him go.  I guess this is the way he eats his oreos!

This was based on the latest sketch from Creative Scrappers.  If you didn't hear the news, Creative Scrappers will be taking a little break after sketch #250 (March 3rd).  But all the fabulous sketches will still be posted for a long time!

I used the December Gossamer Blue kit for this page.  Remember when lollipop flowers were all the rage? Just layered circles that were distressed...I used to like those, so I did something similar on my page.  I just took some bright colored circles and stacked them together!

I created a large, rectangular frame with kraft paper behind my photos, and then stitched over it with brown thread.  A few sentiments here and there and that's pretty much it!  I really love using circles on my page, so this sketch was perfect!

Hope you get to play along with some sketches in the final weeks at Creative Scrappers!

Stay scrappy my friends!!!

5

And another for catch up week...

Hubby and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on October 13th!  I loved getting married in the fall.

Anyways, both kids were sick, so we didn't have any big plans.  We just went out for dinner to a great Tapas bar.  On our way out of the restaurant, we walked past Tully's (a sports restaurant) and Keith started talking about their awesome desserts...so we went in and had, not one, but TWO!  :)  It was nice to have a night out without kids!

This page was based on a sketch by Kristine Davidson for My Scraps & More.  This was for a challenge I posted to use the colors of a TWIX wrapper for inspiration!  :)

I really enjoyed working on this page and decorating all the little circles!!!  It was fun to try and find different bits and pieces that would go with these colors and to try and balance them on the page.  There's twine, glitter paper, wood veneer, stickers, banners, washi tape, and more!

I like this idea of making small coordinating bits and then using them together on a page....I may play with this more on future pages...hhhmmmmmmm......
